OMG – This Podcast Is 10 Years Old!
Posted on April 1st, 2016 No commentsIt was 10 years ago today…April 1st, 2006…when the first podcast was released.
I was surprised that the first podcast was released on April 1st…on April Fool’s Day…and then I remembered why it was released exactly on April 1st…
Here’s the story…
I disagreed with the concept of “April Fool’s Day”…of trying to fool people on April 1st…I declared April 1st…”April Inspiration Day”…or something similar to that name…and the goal was to inspire people to be and do awesome things…this was before YouTube or Facebook were well known…before users making content was even considered really normal or possible…back then, people believing they could be a successful indie game dev was crazy. My goal was to inspire students and game developers alike to make their own successful indie/innovative games.
I want to thank all the listeners and interviewees that made this show possible.
Since the first podcast show, the games industry has grown dramatically…and it is now on its way to being the defining media of the first half of the 21st century…we are all lucky to be a part of this industry…even if it is just by being a player.
I wish everyone the best of success and hopefully this podcast inspires you to make your own innovative and amazing game and media experiences.
FYI…
You can download the first podcast show here…

Moving forward, I feel like interviews should be only part of the mix. I hope to cover game designs, tech info, and even other concepts via the shows.

Another Free Game Dev Mentorship…
Posted on March 2nd, 2016 No commentsHey folks,
The first game dev mentorship was interesting and I enjoyed it.
I’m going to offer another Game Dev mentorship that would last for 1 or 2 weeks. This is open to any individual or team…from high school student to senior citizen.
During the mentorship, we would meet over Skype or e-mail daily to discuss the details, challenges, and ideas needed to get your game done.
Based on the first mentorship, here are the benefits I’ve seen you would get…
a) You have someone to help keep you focused on finishing your projectb) You get experience with some of the subtle nuances of game development and learn ways to be a better game developer/designer
c) You get good insights into the business and marketing aspects of game development
d) You get technical/programming help as needed to finish your project
If you or your team is interested, e-mail me at support at indiegamepod dot com…this offer is open until March 20th, 2016
Feel free to post questions about the mentorship below 🙂

Freebie Reminder: Mobile Game Design Book…
Posted on February 8th, 2016 No commentsHey folks,
Here is a reminder for a popular freebie…a book on mobile game design…
We always try to explore new ideas and concepts on the show that make experimental game developers more innovative and effective.
In that regard, I’ve written a book on mobile game design. The book was written a while ago and could definitely use an update…but it still has some good material for mobile game design.
The book “Mobile Game Design”…which you can buy on Amazon…is now free for listeners for a limited time. It talks about the main mechanics for mobile games…as well as “hidden game mechanics” you can use to stand out in the marketplace. Enjoy 🙂
Put any feedback or suggestions on the book below 🙂

Free Game Dev Mentorship…
Posted on January 31st, 2016 No commentsHey folks,
Part of the show involves giving away free stuff to indie developers. One of the more popular freebies was a free mobile game design book released a couple years ago.
This year, we’re going to try something different…I’m going to offer free game dev mentorship for 2 weeks to any indie game dev/team that is working on a casual game.
This mentorship would involve giving you feedback on technical, marketing, and business issues…every day via e-mail or Skype.
Once your game gets done, I’m also happy to do an interview about the game to post on the show.
The goal of this mentorship experiment is to see if this show should offer this new type of freebie to the mix of stuff we give out on the show.
If you or your team is interested, e-mail me at support at indiegamepod dot com … this offer is open until February 7th, 2016.
Feel free to post questions about the mentorship below 🙂
