Free Friday: Corona Game Jam — Win a Free Corona License
Posted on April 22nd, 2011 19 commentsHey folks,
For those of you into Corona and its ability to rapidly create mobile games…we’re going to have Corona game jam this weekend and will give away a free PRO subscription to Corona to the winner as well as an indie subscriptions to the 2nd and 3rd place winners.
Here are the details. You have this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to make a game in Corona. You must submit by 8 pm on Sunday, PST. Games are submitted and the winner will be chosen by Monday at 8 PM.
The goal is to make a fun mobile game. We’ll also be releasing some free code during the weekend to help you reach that goal 🙂
In any case, you can download the Corona SDK here…

Enjoy 🙂

What are the rules for submission? Who/where do we submit to? Also, where do we get the free code?

When you say “in the comments”, are you meaning to upload files to the comments? Or do we post our entries somewhere on the web, and link to them in the comments?
Also, are you wanting the corona project files? Or a binary (or whatever Corona produces)?
(Sorry if I’m being obtuse).

Cool! I wish I had known from the minute this contest started, but what the heck, pressure is good for focusing, right? 🙂
Now, after several hours, I’m kind of wishing I hadn’t started something that requires so much “R&D” on my part, but at least by the time this weekend is over I should be a much better Corona SDK developer!

just found this guess ill try to pull a all nighter and see what happens
does it have to be android, iphone, either, or both -
also does it have to be all original or can we use premade graphics and sounds

Oops! Just realized (when I went to build) that I needed the JDK, downloading now. My submission will be at: http://nerdnightgames.com/stuffjumper.apk

I didn’t have time to finish it completely, but here it is:

I’m still on the trial version, so I don’t know if that will be a problem.

All I needed was the 32 bit JDK to build. It did, however, give a message saying only I would be able to run it, due to my version of Corona being a trial and it was using a debug keystore. Not sure if everyone using the trial has the same keystore or not.

Argh! I apparently didn’t read the fine print and had it in my head that midnight was the deadline. Oh well, I’ve been in a mad scramble and probably wouldn’t have made it even if I had known. 🙂
On the plus side, I have a good head start on a game that’s gonna make me rich once I release it. 😉

Working on making a video, meanwhile, try the newer build attempt.
